Ulster University is Northern Ireland’s Civic University and the second largest in Ireland. We have an international reputation for excellence, innovation and regional engagement. We have been recognised as a top UK university for widening participation in higher education.
Ulster University’s Magee Campus is a beautiful mix of old and new buildings located right in the heart of the city. Walk through the campus and grab a coffee or attend a Music at One lunchtime concert; the campus is here for everyone to enjoy.
Located in the historic walled city of Derry where the Wild Atlantic Way meets the Causeway Coast, study just a short drive from the beauty of Donegal.
Teaching strengths on campus include nursing, social care, business, cinematic arts, Irish, music, drama, computing, engineering and law.
We are proud to contribute to Derry’s reputation as a Hub for data-driven Innovation and Health and Social Care:
- Our School of Nursing at Magee recently celebrated 45 years and is ranked 7th in the UK and top 50 in the world
- We are now home to Northern Ireland’s only Paramedic Degree Course.
- In September 2021, we will open the Graduate Entry School of Medicine to train the future Doctors of the North West.
- We are the first University in Ireland and the UK to offer an undergraduate degree course in Stratified Medicine.
Our research centres, (funded in partnership with WHSCT ad DCSDC), at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry are undertaking some of the most exciting and advanced research in personalised medicine globally.
With a presence right across the region, our aim in Derry is to contribute to economic development and regeneration of the Derry region and the north west of Ireland.
Why we recommend Derry as a place to live, work & learn
Derry is a warm, vibrant, cultural city. It is a great place to study, work, live and invest.
It is a high-tech city with successful businesses with a strong legacy of providing well-paid, high quality jobs.
Our reputation as a high-tech city is set to flourish and grow in the years to come with the Derry City Deal.
In partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council we are a partner in the delivery of the Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan.
A visionary plan with a mission to deliver prosperity for all, we are privileged to work alongside regional partners and play our part in realising a bright and prosperous region for everyone.
In the Derry City Deal, we bring to the table our world-class education and research offering in the belief that education leads to skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and innovation. These are important agendas in Derry, Northern Ireland and the world right now as we encounter rapid change every day.
The fourth industrial revolution is here. Robotics, automation, AI and digital technologies offer unprecedented opportunity for all sectors. At Ulster University we have been pioneering research in these disciplines for years. We are proud to work alongside industry to harness the full potential of these emerging technologies.
This will make Derry an attractive location for new industries and enable us to compete on the global stage.
